With a focus on fun and safety, Peggy Ginn of Shadow Hills Riding School, has been teaching children and adults of San Luis County for over 25 years. A strong foundation in the basics of flat work (walk, trot, canter) establishes the skills necessary for SHRS riders to pursue any discipline they desire.

Shadow Hills encourages exploring as many aspects of horsemanship and riding available to the inquisitive rider. From horse management to trail riding to showing in the Hunter/Jumper/Eventing arenas. 

Our goal is to always put the horse first, creating a happy horse and 
rider team.

​Peggy Ginn was born in Anniston, Alabama. She started riding at age 15 and was an active member of the internationally affiliated Cahaba Pony Club in Birmingham, training with Jeffray Riding. She was successful as a beginning rider and advanced up through the levels of United States Pony Club, aging out at the B Level, giving her an introduction to many areas of riding as well as a strong background in stable management and sportsmanship.

Peggy continued her equestrian training while attending Auburn University, where she graduated with a B.S. degree in animal science with special emphasis on equine studies. After completing her formal education at Auburn, Peggy traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she was a barn manager and assistant trainer/instructor at Goose Downs, an active 3-Day Eventing barn.

In 1983, Peggy came to Los Osos eventually establishing her business at Los Osos Valley Equine Farm where she specializes in teaching the basic fundamentals of riding to young children and adults. She is an experienced Jumper rider and currently competes on the A Circuit.
